THANK YOU!
With the generous support of many sponsors, auction participants and fund-a-need donors, we’re thrilled to announce that we raised over $1,040,000 at Red Hot Night 2012! The funds raised will support the new Children’s Mercy East set to open late this year. We also extend our sincere appreciation to our honorary co-chairs, Ken and Cindy McClain, our event co-chairs Andrew Teigen and Becky Krueger, and to the Hands and Hearts for Children Auxiliary.

You Build Healthier Lives
Your support of Red Hot Night makes you a partner in
rounding out our geographic circle of care by launching Children’s Mercy
East. We are excited to announce a challenge match from the J.E. and
L.E. Mabee Foundation for this important project. Every dollar you
donate is matched at 18%.
But the greatest return of all? Because of you, more children will have
the life- saving, family-centered care of Children’s Mercy closer to
home, closer to school, and closer to their hearts in Eastern Jackson
County
North, South, East, and West.
Since 1897 Children's Mercy Hospitals and Clinics has been caring for children across our community. As our community has grown over the last 114 years, so too has the reach of our hands and hearts. In 1997 we opened Children's Mercy South; in 2003 Children's Mercy Northland was introduced; in 2007 we launched Children's Mercy West. And by 2013 Children's Mercy East will open.
There's No Place Like Home
The number of families visiting Children’s Mercy from Eastern Jackson County has grown steadily. Last year we saw 22,278 children, which equates to 50% of the combined enrollments of the area’s three largest school districts: Independence, Lee’s Summit and Blue Springs. An average of 207 children from Eastern Jackson County are seen every day somewhere at Children’s Mercy. The reasons these children come to us are as diverse as the children themselves – from a sprained ankle, to a high fever or an allergic reaction– It’s time these children had their own Children’s Mercy closer to home.
Children’s Mercy East, our first regional facility built from the ground up, will be approached in phases. The first phase of construction will include:
- Urgent Care in the evenings and on weekends, close to home and school
- Specialty Clinics during the day, reducing travel time to the downtown campus for patients and families
- Basic radiology services at first; eventually a comprehensive imaging center
- Outpatient Laboratory, to reduce travel time for Eastern Jackson County patients that need regular monitoring of blood work.
Thank you to our 2012 Red Hot Night Leadership!
